What Our Top Dog Says About The Kurgo Crash Tested Car Safety Harness

The Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Smart Harness is designed to secure your dog for safe car travel. Studies show that every 18 minutes a loose pet in a vehicle causes an accident. Hats off to Kurgo for enhancing their harness and adding the secure hardware that is needed to keep a dog secure in the event of a crash. This harness is an excellent lower cost alternative to other safety harnesses.  Kurgo has redesigned their car safety harness to ensure it passes dog crash tests.

Here are some of the features of this excellent harness:

  • The double-nested hardware is more secure and stable.
  • It attaches to the seat belt with a tether that prevents your dog from freely roaming throughout the car.
  • It is fully adjustable to allow your dog to stand, sit or lay comfortably without restriction.
  • Kurgo’s Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Smart Harness has all the features of our standard harness, with the added benefit of Kurgo’s patent-pending Nesting Buckles.
  • The all-steel Nesting Buckle system is based on the harnesses of rock climbers and linemen. The Nesting Buckles take a minute to learn, but are very easy to use. If you are looking for a crash-tested harness, this is an excellent option.

Just like a child car seat, if your dog car harness is in an accident, you should replace it to ensure your pet's safety in the case of another incident. Kurgo is serious about safety. No matter what brand of harness involved in the accident, they will replace your harness free of charge with one of their crash-tested dog harnesses.  Email contact@keepdoggiesafe.com in inquire about the details of this program.

Here Are The Doggie Details:

  • Can be safely used with any vehicle seat belt or the Kurgo Auto Zip Line
  • Includes a seat-belt loop
  • Functions as an auto or walking harness
  • Steel nesting buckles keep your dog secure
  • D-Ring in front of harness for walking dogs who pull and making it easier to control them

Kurgo Harness

It took a little time learning how to hook the seatbelt through the correct part of the harness but once that was accomplished, all went well. So glad to have this extra safety measure in place. Even more happy having the folks at Keep Doggie Safe as our go-to-place for all our puppy's needs.

Kurgo Harness

I purchased the Kurgo harness on recommendation of Erin @ Keep Doggie Safe. She explained all KDS harnesses and recommended it. The first time I used it was when I picked up my ten month old 70 pound labradoodle for a two hour car ride back to the house. However, the instructions could have been clearer as it took the breeder and me a while to get the harness to fit appropriately for the trip. The good news is that he was secure for the entire trip - most of the time lying down & occasionally sitting up. I use it for walking him as well and it works fine after fine tuning the straps.

Kurgo Harness solves the problem

This is a very good product. I like that it has been crash tested. It achieves its safety rating by hooking into the car seat belt system with a simple carabiner. The printed instructions are not that clear - it took a few tries to figure out how to get the harness on, and then I had to watch the video to see how to connect it to the car, but now it seems simple. Best of all, my dog does not mind wearing it and does not try to get out of it when he is hooked in to the car. Customer support from Keep Doggie Safe was fantastic in helping me select the right product.

Awesome harness, Amazing customer Service!

This is a great product. I was afraid our little rescue would be uncomfortable in it but she seems to love it. Easy to hook into the seat belts. Just be sure that you put it in a seat that doesn't have an airbag in front of it, that also has a shoulder belt.

We were getting ready for a trip and I was scrambling to find a crash-tested harness that would fit her. The woman with whom I spoke at KeepDoggieSafe was absolutely amazing! She took all sorts of time to find the right harness for Annabelle, helped secure shipping that would get it here in time, and advised me on the best size for her. What a wonderful company and harness!

The harness is terrific. A lot of adjustability. One thing is the instructions. I cannot tell if our dog is really secure as the belt continues to move in and out. If they would explain "In the even of a collision the belt will....the dog will be secure because...." A link to a video? I know how a seat belt works for a human. I cannot get my head around how the mechanism works with the animal. I am also not clear whey the "handle" isn't resting above the chest lines. It is resting underneath. Hmmmmm will check out another video I suppose.
