Sleepypod Click-it harness was named the 2013 Top Performing Pet Safety Harness in a Subaru of America, Inc. and Center for Pet Safety (CPS) collaborative study. The crash test measured the effectiveness of pet harnesses marketed with safety claims. Clickit Dog Safety Harness is the only harness to earn safety certification and a five star rating from the Center for Pet Safety.
The Sleepypod Crash-Tested Car Harness is light and easy to use, without sacrificing safety. Sleepypod rigorously tested Clickit Terrain to include the same dynamic crash tests used to test child safety restraints. The Sleepypod Terrain Harness can be used as an everyday harness. Both of the Sleepypod Car Safety Harnesses Passed the Subaru Crash-Test. Clickit Terrain is a high performance car safety harness for high performing dogs, combining Sleepypod’s award-winning travel safety technology with enhanced safety, comfort and control features for everyday use.
The Terrain Harness works in all cars containing a three-point lap and shoulder seat belt, it doesn't require the baby safety latch that is under the seats to install. You do not need to purchase any additional seat belt tethers to use this harness in your vehicle appropriately, however many customers do purchase a safety tether to use in conjunction with the harness as an alternate means to secure the dog.
Sizes are determined by chest measurement around a dog's rib cage, just behind the front legs. These harnesses run big, so if you are close between sizes, we always recommend sizing down.
Due to the unique characteristics and body types of Greyhounds, Whippets, Salukis, Afghan Hounds,Borzoi, our harnesses will not work properly on these breeds. Sleepypod is looking into developing harnesses that will fit them in the near future.
I purchased this crash test harness after watching many videos and reviews for dog safety the car; the Sleepypod Clickit Terrain Crash - Tested Dog Car Harness arrived and appeared to be a structured harness. I adjusted accordingly and took my dog on a couple of short rides around the neighborhood to get him used to this new safety system. I then took him on approximately a 10 minute ride and while in the back seat secured (so I thought), he started to panic and was able to get out of the harness and got himself tangled with the Sleepypod and my car's seatbelt. I was just horrified that this could happen as this is a safety device that is supposed to protect him. I immediately pulled the car over to untangle him from a most dangerous situation. I read the instructions and watched the videos to ensure my dogs safety while wearing this, but in the end returned this product back. We had no issues receiving the refund, but I have some real concerns with this product being able to restrain a dog properly if they are able to get out of it as mine did. My dog is used to wearing sweaters, jackets, hats and a step in harness so he is used to wearing items similar to this product.
Wonderful product but a little difficult with my big girl to make sure the safety belt doesn’t lock. When it does she can Houdini her way out of it.
I bought because I was having so much anxiety driving my dog through downtown every day. It didn’t fit right, and I was highly disappointed that I had to pay shipping to do an exchange, so I thought I better just return it in case I have to ship the next harness back, because it was $15 to ship, plus there’s a 10 or 15% restocking fee that they notified me of after I purchased, which is ridiculous. I tried to call customer service many times and only reached them once. I tried to reach out about the exchange and didn’t hear anything, so I reached out through email about wanting to return instead, and they got back to me about the exchange after that but never responded about my return. I shipped it a week ago and haven’t heard anything.
The harness was too loose around the neck, she seemed very uncomfortable walking around in it, and I couldn’t get my dog to sit the way she needed to, which is our problem and not sleepypod’s, but overall not great for us. (I have a 50 pound husky/border collie mix)
I apologize for the experience you had with Keep Doggie Safe. I'm wondering if you left a message when you called and what email address you originally reached out to, because we never leave an messages or emails unanswered. When I received your email about the exchange, I immediately replied, because I knew you needed an answer right away.
We are a very small business and cannot afford free return shipping like most large websites. We only charge a restocking fee of $7.50 if you use our prepaid label service which is our average cost of postage for our products. If you choose to purchase your own postage, and it sounds like that is what you decided to do, you can expect a full refund. Our Return and Exchange Policy is stated on our website and is visible at any time. We certainly do not try to hide it or be deceiving.
We typically process refunds for returns within 3-5 business days of when we receive the package. We do not have any outstanding returns to process at the moment, which tells me we have not received your package yet. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it.
If you have further questions for me, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 919-830-7399. I want to make sure you feel comfortable about your experience with our company, and would be happy to assist you further.
Thank you for your business,
Erin - Owner, Keep Doggie Safe
We took a 4+ hour car trip on some windy mountain roads, and with the Sleepypod, that was the best trip my dog has had in a car. She could sit up, lay down, but stay safely in place. I would absolutely recommend this to friends.
I bought the harness for my new dog, my other two dogs have had theirs for several years. After the initial adjustment they are easy to use, I use it for everyday walks as well as in the car. Love the new blush color too, I chose it this time. Would love to see one made in cobalt blue.
